With the generous support of our family, friends and the softball community, we have been able to establish the McKenzie Travis Educational Foundation and through that a scholarship fund in loving memory of our daughter/sister, McKenzie. McKenzie was killed in a car accident January 22, 2006, at nineteen years old and is missed every day. This scholarship fund enables us to keep McKenzie's memory alive in a way that has great meaning for our family while promoting education and athletics.
Through June 2013, we have awarded a total of $318,500 to more than 100 outstanding female athletes to support their collegiate endeavors. In 2014, we hope to award an additional $70,000. Scholarship eligibility criteria, application form and additional information can be found on this web site.
We have appointed an independent scholarship selection committee comprised of education and athletic professionals as well as non-family members that knew McKenzie well.
While academic achievement is extremely important, selection will also be heavily weighted on community service and essay (or video) quality.
Thank you for your interest in the McKenzie Travis Educational Foundation.
John and Jody Travis,
