Brook just recently graduated from Indian River High School in Dagsboro, De. She played center field for the Indians all 4 years of her high school career and received 1st team all conference and 2nd team all state in 2009 and received 1st team all conference and 1st team all state in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She was also captain of the softball team in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Other than softball she also played volleyball in the fall of 2009, 2010, and 2011 and received 2nd team all conference in 2010 and 2011. She was a member of the National Honors Society in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and also received academic all-state for volleyball in 2011. She was also a member of the varsity club in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She enjoys playing softball and that is why she is going to play at the next level for Wilmington University this fall. She will be majoring in psychology.
Kali (Kay-lee) “Gator” is entering her junior year at Hood College, in Frederick, MD, where she plays shortstop for the Hood Blazers, and graduated in 2010 from Greencastle-Antrim High School in Pennsylvania where she played softball for the Blue Devils. While playing for the Blue Devils, she was named 2-time 1st Team All Conference and 2nd Team Public Opinion Softball All-Star. She was an honor role student, part of the Big Buddy Program, Environmental Club and Peer Tutors. While in college, Kali has made the Dean’s List both semesters her freshman year at Hood, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.31 currently. While at Hood, Kali enjoys softball, is a member of the Best Buddies program and Habitat for Humanity, a member of Alpha Lamba Delta honor society group, and involved with the Student Education Association. Kali is employed over summer break at Greencastle Learning Center daycare where she is a classroom teacher in the school-age room with children ages 6-13 through the week. On the weekends, Kali enjoys being outdoors, cleaning, babysitting, and getting things done!
Skye will be entering her senior year at Delaware State University, where she is majoring in Physical Education with plans to further her degree with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Skye is the catcher for the Hornets in which she has played a key role for the team thus far in her career. She is a member of the Dean’s list, Chi Alpha Sigma Athletic Honors Society, MEAC Commissioners All- Academic Team, DSU Honors Program, DSU Physical Education club, and also volunteers for the Special Olympics, as well as the Salvation Army. Skye is an Alumnus to Caesar Rodney High School class of 2009, and is a native to Magnolia Delaware.
Breada Boyce recently graduated from Laurel High School. She played field hockey for two years and started on the softball team for four years as the shortstop. Over the past four years she made rookie of the year, Henlopen Conference Honorable Mention, and second team all conference and was a two year captain. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government Association and a two year ambassador for blue-gold for her school. She enjoys being active and hanging with friends. Breada is not sure where she will attend school but she plans to major in Early Childhood Education and play softball wherever she attends.
Courtney is a recent graduate of Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, NY. She was a four year starting shortstop and team captain while on her Varsity Softball Team. During her Freshman year she received the Suffolk County Rookie of the Year Award, the All League Award and the Babe Didrickson Award. Sophomore year she received the Suffolk County All League and Golden Glove Awards. Junior and Senior year she received the Suffolk County All County Award. Courtney started playing softball when she was 7 years old and has always played shortstop on her travel ball teams for the Three Village Bombers, the Silver Bullets and the Long Island Hurricanes. She has maintained a 3.8 GPA while taking many AP courses as well as being part of the National Honor Society, Global Language Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Spanish Club. She has volunteered for several organizations such as Stony Brook University Hospital, Good Shepherd Hospice, Relay for Life, and Contract for Kids. She has also been a softball youth mentor throughout the years. Courtney will be attending Franklin Pierce University in the fall where she was recruited to play on their D2 softball team while pursuing a Physician Assistant degree.
Carsin attended Howell Highschool in Howell NJ. She is in the National Honors Society and has been in it for both Jr. and Sr. year. She was named the 2012 Howell High School Female Athlete of the Year and MVP on the softball team for 2011 and 2012. She likes to volunteer with special needs children and would like to be an occupational therapist after college. Carsin will be attending Moravian College in the fall to further her education and softball careers.
Mackenzie is a 2012 graduate from Binghamton High School in New York and a member of the 18U STPS Ponies travel softball team. Mackenzie played both varsity volleyball and varsity softball for 3 years, receiving All- Conference, All-Tournament and MVP selections. She was varsity softball captain and an awarded scholar athlete/academic all-star in both sports. In high school Mackenzie was a member of National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, French Club and Student Government, as well as making High Honor Roll all four years. Mackenzie has volunteered her time as a tutor, Special Olympics coach, softball coach and Raise Money for Haiti Co-Chair. Mackenzie graduated high school a Full International Baccalaureate Diploma student, in the top 4% of her class. She will attend Siena College in the fall where she will major in Biology with pre-medical intent and be a member of the softball team.
Danielle, a rising junior majoring in Mechancial Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, has been a two-year starter for the Ducks, initially at second base and currently at shortstop. This past season, after accumulating 70 hits and compiling a 29 game hitting streak, Danielle was selected to the First Team All-Empire 8, Second Team NFCA All Northeast Region, and First Team Academic All-District. Danielle has also been on the President's List every semester at Stevens, which honors student-athletes who maintain a GPA above 3.75 cumulatively or for the given semester. Danielle was a 4-year varsity letter winner at Newton High School and has been a member of the Rampage Softball organization since 2007 where she continues to play each summer. In addition, through USA Athletes International, Danielle was selected from a pool of NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA student-athletes nominated by coaches throughout the US to participate on a USAAI team and she recently traveled to Aruba to play in a friendship series against Aruba's select team, where the USAAI team went undefeated. Danielle is also involved in many organizations on campus, and is most heavily involved in Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity. Danielle has spent over 30 hours a semester the past four semesters performing community service through the fraternity, both on campus and throughout Hoboken.
Amie is a recent graduate of Newton High School in Newton, New Jersey. Amie played both varsity softball and soccer and was a co-captain of both teams in her senior year. She ranked 5th in her graduating class and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Amie held various leadership positions in school including Secretary of the National Honor Society, Treasurer of the Interact Club, Secretary of Student Council, a Class of 2012 Officer and a Peer Leader. Amie earned her Girl Scout Silver Award and volunteered numerous hours at her local Project Self Sufficiency, working at many events. Amie was a 4 year varsity starter for Newton and played the outfield. The past 2 years Amie has earned First Team All-Conference Honors, as well as the Offensive Player of the Year for her high school team. She has won PONY states with her travel team and twice tied for 5th place at PONY Nationals. Amie will be attending Muhlenberg College in the fall where she will be majoring in Environmental Science while also getting her Early Childhood Education Certification, and will play softball for the Muhlenberg Mules.
Emma is a 2012 graduate of Vernon Township High School in Vernon, NJ where she was Captain of her high school softball team and led the Vernon Vikings in batting average, RBI’s and homeruns in her senior year. A 2012 All-Sussex County Team selection, 2012 NJAC 2nd Team All-Conference selection, Emma was also selected to the 2012 NJAC All-Academic Team and 2012 All-West NJ 3rd Team. An active participant in high school life, Emma was a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian National Honor Society, a four-year Class Officer and Vice President of the VTHS DECA Marketing Club. Emma placed first in the State of New Jersey DECA Marketing competition and competed at the national level for two consecutive years. Emma plays first base for the Frozen Ropes Force 18U Gold team from Chester, NY. Emma has accepted a roster spot at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Metro Campus where she will be a Colonel Fairleigh S. Dickinson Scholar and a biology major on a pre-med track beginning in the Fall of 2012. After college Emma plans to follow her calling into missions work.
Taylor is a recent graduate from North Dorchester High School. She graduated being a Maryland Scholar student, having academic, general, and math honors. She received the Scholastic Merit Award by graduating in the top 5% of her class. Taylor was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year and was a 4 year member in Student Government and Key Club. She played 4 years of varsity softball and field hockey where she was a captain her senior year. Taylor was awarded the offensive MVP by leading her team with the highest batting average. She played 4 years with the Delaware Storm. In the fall, Taylor plans to attend Goldey-Beacom College to major in accounting and play softball for the lightning
Kelly is a 2012 graduate of Moore Catholic High School in Staten Island, New York. She was a four year softball player there, while playing travel ball throughout those years. She pitched her team to the CHSAA Archdiocesan Championship title in 2011, and also
competed in the State Championship tournament that same year. She was the Secretary of the National Honor Society for her school. She also was the Vice-President of Moore's Student Council. Kelly takes part in Christian ministries at her church, and was also a part of the group that served in Guatemala this past January. Kelly received the Vincent G. Tomes Humanitarian Award this past June, as well as the Sister Mary James Morgan Award for Mathematic Excellence, and a merit award for excellence in science. She was inducted into the Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame. Kelly will be attending The State University of New York College at Oneonta this fall, where she will look to major in chemistry and meteorology.
Sydney is a recent graduate of Cicero- North Syracuse High School near Syracuse, New York who graduated with honors and an Advanced Regents Diploma. She was a member of the Math Honor Society for two years and a four-year member of the National Honor Society. She was actively involved in the "Class of 2012", the "Star Leadership" group, served one term as secretary of the CNS Optimist Club and was a recipient of a Dollars for Scholars award. In addition to her academics, she has been a five-year starter for the Varsity softball team achieving the status of "Scholar Athlete" every year. She has played multiple positions, starting as an outfielder in eighth grade, then moving to third base and ultimately completing her career as the second baseman. Her CNS Softball team has been Regional Champion for four of her five years making it to the AA NY State Final Four. She is the lead off hitter for this squad, which has been NY State Runner Up in the Class AA division for the past three of those years. Her individual achievements include All League honors - 5 times; second team All Central New York once; and she was named to the All Central New York First Team for the past two years. In her senior year, she also received the honor of being selected as the”News Channel 9 Athlete of the Week". Sydney will be attending Binghamton University in the fall to play for the BU Bearcats.
Melissa is a 2011 graduate of Half Hollow Hills HS West. She played 5 years of varsity softball and 3 years of field hockey while maintaining a 3.96 GPA. She achieved the High Honor Roll for all 16 quarters and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Melissa was the captain of the softball team for her last 3 years and in field hockey the last 2 years. She was named the softball team’s MVP in both her junior and senior years. Melissa was the Suffolk County leader in RBIs with 38 in 2011. She was named to the All County softball team in her senior year and All Conference in her sophomore and junior years. She played travel softball for 7 years, the last five with the LI Express. Melissa was a 4 year member of the Hills West Varsity Club. In her senior year, she served as President and VP in her junior year. The Varsity Club was successful in raising thousands of dollars in various events for charitable causes. In April 2011, she was the key student organizer of a 3 day fund-raising event for a school staff member stricken with brain cancer. The event raised $28,000 to help with her medical costs. Her cancer is in remission and she is feeling well and leading a normal life. She was a 3 year member of Athletes Helping Athletes, a school organization that allows selected students to mentor elementary school students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. She was President of AHA in her senior year and Secretary in her junior year. Melissa has donated 12 – 18 inches of her hair on FOUR separate occasions to Locks of Love for cancer patients. She has also volunteered at numerous youth softball clinics. As a freshman in the Honors Program at LIU – Post she achieved a GPA of 3.75 / 4.0. She set up a sole person charity drive for the Animal Lovers League that raised over $750. She will be transferring to Cornell University in the fall, attending the ILR School, and will be vying for a position on their Ivy League South Division champion softball team. Melissa has been working on a part-time basis since May 2011 in the Accounting Dept. at Aceto Corp. She will also be working for 2 weeks as a counselor at the Hills West Softball Camp in July for the 4th consecutive year. She enjoys sports, music, history, trivia, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Re' is a recent graduate from Ramsey High School in Ramsey, New Jersey. Re' played volleyball and softball all 4 years and earned All League Honors in Softball her senior year. Her game winning walk off 3 run homer to send her team to the State Sectional Finals was chosen as the number one softball play of the year by MSG Varsity. Re' was a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Leadership Club, Student Out Reach program and served as Secretary of both the Student Congress and the NHS. Re' earned the Scholar Athlete award several times and was choosing the Big North Scholar Athlete of the Year. She received accolades in both German and English this year and was chosen as the 2012 Youth Role Model of the year. In addition Re' earned her Gold Award in Girl Scouting. Re' was ranked 10th in her class and plans to attend Villanova University in the fall where she will study History and Education..
Rebekah recently graduated Caravel Academy in Bear, DE, with honors. She played varsity softball for 4 years and was a member of the 2010 and 2011 Delaware State Champion teams. As well as being a two-time state champ, Rebekah earned Second-Team All-State honors her junior year, along with First-Team All-Sate catching honors her sophomore and senior years, and NFCA First-Team All-Region honors her senior year. Academically, Rebekah earned a 4.0 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, Blue-Gold, Relay for Life, and Caravel Bible clubs. She also volunteered for numerous organizations including the Sunday Breakfast Mission, Christiana Hospital, and the Special Olympics of Delaware. Currently a captain with the Chaos Gold travel team for two years, Rebekah also played with the Orange Crush organization for four years, and the East Norriton Hearbreakers for one year. Rebekah will attend Messiah College in Pennsylvania in the fall where she will major in Early Childhood and Special Education while playing softball for the Falcons.
Cierra will be entering her sophomore year at Susquehanna University, where she is a member of the Crusader’s softball team. She is majoring in Biology with a minor in Health Care Studies. She is an active member of Colleges Against Cancer. Cierra is also a volunteer at a weekly softball clinic held at the ASA Hall of Fame with her fellow teammates. This past year, she was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society for maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Cierra graduated from Salem High School in June of 2011 as the valedictorian of her class. She was a three-year Varsity member of both the softball and field hockey teams. Cierra earned 2nd team All-Conference for field hockey her senior year and earned 1st team All-Conference and 2nd All-Conference for softball her junior and senior years. She was a Team Captain for both the field hockey and softball teams. During high school she was President of Student Council her senior year, Secretary of National Honor Society, and an active member of the Interact Club, Ambassadors Club, Health Careers Club, and Ram Theatre Reparatory Crew. Her senior year she was named the South Jersey Coaches Association Scholar Athlete for the Tri-County Classic Division Conference. Outside of school, she was a volunteer tutor at her local church’s Lighthouse Learning Center. She is a member of the SJ SWAT travel team where she was a two-year captain and is finishing her last year of travel ball.
Calli recently graduated with honors from Big Spring High School in Newville, PA. She has been an active student athlete participating in the Dawg Pound Club, Graphics Club, Video Production Club in addition to serving as Vice-President of the National Honor Society volunteering her time with many Special Olympics events. She has been an active member of the Cumberland County 4-H Swine Club for nine years raising & showing market goats & hogs. Furthermore, she has served as an altar server for Our Lady of Visitation Catholic Church as well as numerous other community service activities. Calli has been playing travel softball for seven years currently playing for the Central PA Krunch Gold Team. Calli was a four-year varsity softball player, four-year varsity field hockey player, and two-year varsity swimmer for the Big Spring Bulldogs. Serving as the starting softball pitcher for four years, Calli has earned numerous athletic awards including team captain, team MVP (two years), Mid Penn First Team (four years), Sentinel News First Team (four years), Patriot News Big 11 (three years), Patriot News All Underclassmen Team (one year), PA All State Softball Team Honorable Mention (two years), Mid Penn Colonial Division Champions 2010, Mid Penn Colonial Division Co-Champions 2011, WGAL Channel 8 Athlete of the Week March 2012, Sentinel News Softball Player of the Year (two years) and Big Spring High School Outstanding Female Athlete 2012. The highlight of her high school career was leading her high school team to the school’s first PIAA AAA state softball championship in school history in June 2012. Calli will be attending Guilford College, Greensboro, NC, to major in Biology/Geology as well as play on the Quaker softball team.
Jena is a recent graduate of Monroe Township High School in New Jersey. Jena was a four year starter in the outfield on the varsity softball team and two year captain. She received 3 varsity letters and served as captain on her basketball team. In softball, Jena has made 1st Team All Division, All Conference, All Area and All County teams. This season, she was named player to watch and recognized as the State Softball Top Performer of the week. This past year, Jena’s team won a division and county title. She was chosen as the Scholar Female Athlete for her school in both her state and conference. Jena was a member of Key Club, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society and her schools Teen PEP Program. Jena enjoys staying active by playing on her summer travel team, Central Jersey Lightning, and working out on her own. She enjoys spending time down the shore at her beach house. She also spends time doing community service in her township’s Buddy Ball Program. Jena will be attending West Chester University of Pennsylvania where she will study nursing.
Melissa just completed her freshman year at Gettysburg College after having graduated as a member of the class of 2011 from Mount Saint Dominic Academy in Caldwell, NJ. This past season, she started every game for the Bullets in left field, earned Second Team All-Conference accolades, and finished second in conference for both runs scored and stolen bases. Off the field, Melissa is a Health Sciences major, participated in bacteriophage research throughout her first year, made the Dean’s Commemorative List both semesters, and coaches 5th and 6th grade girls basketball amongst other community service activities.
Kirsten recently graduated with Alexis I. DuPont’s class of 2012. At AI, she played varsity softball all four years as a shortstop, third baseman, and outfielder. She was also one of the captains for AI’s team her senior year. Kirsten also played for the Midway Orange Crush travel ball organization throughout middle and high school. She has also participated in many other activities and organizations such as varsity basketball, National Honor Society, Key Club, National Society of High School Scholars, and the Technology Student Association. Kirsten is an incoming freshman at Le Moyne College in New York where she plans on majoring in computer science and continuing her softball career.
Rachel Vander Ven
Rachel is a 2012 graduate from POLYTECH High School in Woodside, Delaware. Rachel played on varsity her freshmen year and her sophomore year she was captain on the junior varsity team. She was in the Student Government Association and was selected for National Honor Society. She graduated with not only a regular Diploma, but her Master Technical Diploma for her career field in Early Childhood Education. She graduated with a 90% GPA for all four years in high school. She is the youngest on nine whose personality is out there. She loves to laugh and enjoy every minute of life. Rachel loves to be active also. She likes to go run, working out, playing softball, and do a little reading. In her spare time Rachel likes to help out others and do volunteer work. She will be attending University of Maryland Eastern-Shore in the fall where she will be majoring in Rehabilitation Psychology and playing softball for the Hawks.
Kylie played 3 varsity sports at James M. Bennett High school. I am captain of the soccer, basketball and softball team. I won MVP for soccer my Jr and Sr year, I won Sportsmanship and MVP for basketball my Jr and Sr year, and Sportsmanship and MVP for softball my Jr and Sr year. I have also been awarded Female Athlete of the Year and Bayside Conference Scholar Athlete of the year. I am part of the National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society, Student Government Association, Minds and motion and Academic letter. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, which includes a 4.2 GPA. I enjoy going to the beach and being with family and friends. And I will be attending Salisbury University in the fall..
